Re: Meccg.net Forum Back Online

If you're ever in Provo for some reason, I'll buy you a drink.

Of course, that would entail figuring out where one actually can buy drinks in Provo . . . :)

Re: A Chance Meeting / We Have Come to Kill

I would love to see texts of the player guides come up on the site if possible. It would be nice to have sources of insight into ICE's intentions available to the player base.

Re: A Chance Meeting / We Have Come to Kill

@ Konrad: There is another possibility.

Since the one character limit only exists for playing a a character during the organization phase, WHCtK only applies to that process, since it specifically mentions that limit.

Re: Earcaraxe & Long Dark Reach

If Earcaraxe is disallowed, so are the other Unique Dragons. None of them are playable keyed to a region unless Doors is in play. That's not necessarily true if Example #2 is correct. In this case, Earcaraxe would require DoN, but the other Dragon's would not (because Earcaraxe's home site is the o...

Why would a card such as Prowess of Age be disallowed?

Re: Events Requiring Character to Tap After Combat

I asked the same question earlier this year: http://forum.councilofelrond.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3236 I use Angband Revisited in my Balrog deck. I must time its use to right before declaring the permanent event which requires a character to tap (when needed). Then I play any attack canceling card...

Re: We Have Come to Kill & Ringwraith Followers

I would imagine Ringwraith followers count as Ringwraiths. Perhaps this should have been a status quo item. Only if your imagination is reality. :) The question is whether Van meant "your Ringwraith" or "all characters with the Ringwraith race." ICE could be rather imprecise with terminology, at ti...

Cards With Multiple Actions If a card specifies that more than one action occurs when the card is itself resolved in a chain of effects, all of these actions are to be resolved in the card's chain of effects uninterrupted and in the order listed on the card. No actions may be declared to occur betw...

Re: Dwarven Light-Stone - CvCC

All of the examples are meant to highlight that a process is not the same thing as an object. My foot is part of walking to the door. Walking to the door uses my foot, but is not part of my foot. Of course an influence check is part of bringing a faction into play. But it is not part of a faction. M...

Blame ICE for their poor dictionary lacking a distinctive words for different notions.

Re: Dwarven Light-Stone - CvCC

A strike is part of a strike sequence. A strike sequence is not part of a strike. An attack is part of combat. Combat is not part of an attack. The fact that the two are related does not mean they are interchangeable, nor can the relation be reversed. The strike sequence is not a part of an attack a...

Re: Dwarven Light-Stone - CvCC

The strike sequence includes the resolution of a strike. It is what allows the strike to interact with the character. The strike itself does not.

In general terms, the strike tells you what the thing is.
The strike sequence tells you how to use it.

Re: Dwarven Light-Stone - CvCC

You are conflating "strike" and "strike sequence." Strike: The portion of an attack that affects an individual character. Each attack has one or more strikes, each of which an individual character must face in a strike sequence. If an attack has more strikes than a defending company has characters, ...

Re: The One Ring strike cancellation

I think Theo has the right of it. And attack consists of one or more strikes according to the rules. Affecting a strike is affecting a portion of the attack.

While a strike can exist without an attack, I do not think an attack can exist without strikes.

Nice find.
