Re: Introduce yourself

Hey, I finally found my way down this far in the forum listing! I always liked Tolkien's lore and that the power dynamics of his world felt as much philosophical/persuasive as martial, so I was quite excited about MECCG when The Wizards first came out. Fantastic design fit. But back then it was toug...

You think that's bad, it applies even if the company got there by flying.
No problem: there is a concept of an atmospheric river. I'd think that while flying it would be even easier to get turned around in the wrong direction! ;)

Re: Newbie Q&A : choosing no movement at current site

After facing automatic attacks, the full rules additionally allow the option of making an influence attempt against an opponent's characters/items/allies/factions, or initiating company-vs-company combat depending on the opponent.

Re: Röac the Raven

@Theo: An Active Condition is a requirement that must be met in order to declare an action. Such a thing must be established when an action is declared, and must still be the case when the action resolves, else the action fizzles. This is unfortunately one of the largest areas where ICE was none to...

Re: New Charter Revision - 2018

I'm not sure what you are referencing with Great Secrets Buried There. There hasn't been an active NetRep in quite some time, so no new ruling clarifications have been made. Can you provide a link please? Oh, I just meant it was on my mind recently, not that the clarification was recent. I found th...

Re: Multiplayer rules

No comments from all the crazy collectors? I think the MELE rules are poor. My changes: * only 2/5 hazard must be creatures (instead of 1/2... anyone know where that came from?) * hazard draw is split between opponents, cycling backward through resource turn order * hazard play is allowed by all opp...

Re: Röac the Raven

Current rulings say discarding the Wizard is an active condition of the card Could you clarify what you mean by "active condition of the card"? Something like "the card has no effect unless this is done"? But I think I get your implication that all of the card needs to be interpreted before any of ...

But it's that he "can" make the attempt by himself, not that he must.
But if he is discarded he is no longer in any party... who could help him?

Re: New Charter Revision - 2018

Finally, any rules changes must be passed by the community as a whole. The Council does not dictate new rules. There is errata, and there is "clarification." The second doesn't require a vote, but can be just as precedent setting. (An example recently on my mind is Great Secrets Buried There, "clar...

Re: New Charter Revision - 2018

Hello Vastor! Thanks for your insights. They help fill in more of my admittedly limited understanding . I did not intend my comments to condemn anything; I think the idea (such as I understand it) of Dream Card conception is great. Every good work should spawn additional work. But, to me, governance...

Re: New Charter Revision - 2018

Not personally having much historic precedent of my experience with the game being organized by this forum's Council, I was going to keep my fingers still. But since it doesn't seem like it will hurt anything... here are some lingering thoughts about the new Charter. I am actually pretty disturbed b...

Re: The Mouth facing Mouth of Sauron hazard - clarification question

Can someone catch me up? How could return-to-hand ability of The Mouth (or Last Child of Ungoliant) ever be triggered? The other version couldn't be played to cause them to return to hand. If one manifestation of such an entity is already in play, you may not play another manifestation of the same e...

Re: Potential Carambor Fix

And I'd also have a question about story sense; MECCG isn't just a set of arbitrary interactions between components. Unless Carambor is a time manipulating sorcerer, I don't like the implication of being able to make the day longer than it is (and for just that party). Given that the card doesn't ha...

Re: Potential Carambor Fix

I'm always in favor of making minion resources useless. But yeah, without errata I'd agree with you. Otherwise an indeterminate duration could be interpreted any number of ways up to indefinite, which doesn't have a good feel for a short event.
